The close process has always been synonymous with stress! You need for the close to be quick, accurate and reliable.  With a clear and consistent process you can insure that you are comfortable with your results and that you have the proper backup.  You can confirm that both your Accounts Receivable activity balances to the changes in your Aging and that your Accounts Receivable and General Ledger values are in sync and, if not, why not. This paper provides you with a step-by-step checklist and detailed reconciliation process with visibility as to: what you have done, what you still need to do and how to complete a detailed reconciliation for Release 12.

Slaying the Hyrda - Achieving Single Item Multi-Org Cost without using Copy Cost
Travis Cox, Senior Consultant, OAC Services, Inc.

Download File
Tired of dealing with the multi-headed monster of copying costs across multiple manufacturing organizations to achieve a global standard? Have you found yourself struggling with how to copy a range of item costs from one organization to another without wiping out what you just copied to the same target organization minutes before? Using Cost Management's Supply Chain Cost Rollup just may offer the solution to your labors.  This presentation will focus on how to set up and use Oracle Cost Management's Supply Chain Cost Rollup to achieve a global standard cost across all organizations - manufacturing or otherwise - without copying costs across organizations.  The presentation will include the discussion of a case study that involves a client with more than 15 inventory organizations, many of which can produce the same family of products - but only one of which may be the primary production site (and standard cost source) for a given item within the family. This granularity would have driven the Copy Cost process down close to - if not literally - the individual item level. Using the Supply Chain Cost Rollup and some minor extensions avoided this painful process.

Accrual Automation Using Oracle Desktop Receiving
Parag Jain, Senior ERP Lead, BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc

Month end accruals around services is a manual, time consuming process. A monthly report is generated and sent to PO owners to determine the appropriate accrual amount. This requires constant follow up with users and at times questions the accuray of accruals. By allowing the system to determine accruals and automating the process of receipt of services, this not only reduces the overall time of period end close process but also streamlines the accruals. By extending Oracle iProcurement functionality of Desktop receiving, it solves this problem very effectively. This is a self service solution for end to end automation and PTP process to address accrual issues around services. In this presentation you will know the business case, pocess challenges in Bio-Pharma industry and importance of a robust change management plan to launch this functionality to 1000+ users.

Buy Sell Subcontracting: Collaborative Execution with a Value Added Subcontractor
John Conlin, Principal Solutions Consultant, Oracle Corporation

Download File
Over the past few years, the Oracle Value Chain Planning (VCP) planning products have supported collaboration with key trading partners, customers and suppliers. Now, starting with Release 12.1, the Oracle E-Business Suite supports taking those planning activities further with direct integration into the execution area with Buy Sell Subcontracting.  This capability automates the execution of the material flow to enable: 1.  A company, usually an Original Equipment Manufacturer, OEM, to BUY an assembly from a Contracting Manufacturing Partner, CM, (supplier) and then, 2. SELL certain components to that Contract Manufacturer in order to enable the CM to, 3. Produce the required Assembly.  Buy Sell subcontracting automates the processes 1 through 3 above and uses many of elements of the Value Chain  Planning products in order to direct both the material and then the subsequent financial flow.  Buy Sell subcontracting also fully supports the above mentioned flow in a complete Drop Ship Business flow.

Enabling Global Sourcing through Oracle ASCP
Shashi Kulkarni, Sr. Director, Extreme Networks

Presentation was cancelled the day of the event
This whitepaper is about how Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) implementation has helped planners to model different sourcing strategies for different products in each Distribution Center and help them manage and utilize the inventory more efficiently. The addition of a Hong Kong Distribution Center to Extreme Network's supply chain presented new challenges and at the same time provided opportunities to the material planners. It has helped Extreme Network's supply chain become more responsive and provides planners the visibility of material movement (in-transit) through-out the global supply chain. The addition of Hong Kong Distribution Center will allow Extremenetworks  to ship the products to the customers from the Distribution Center closer to their location and this decision can be made systematically based on inventory availability using the Oracle Global Order Promising (GOP) module.

Global Chart of Accounts – Lessons Learned from 15 years global implementations”

How to construct a global chart of accounts? What did we learn over the years? Which concepts proved the most successful over the long run? Are there actually any “best practices”? Hans Kolbe, chair of the multi-national SIG group of the OAUG will present the findings and experiences with many practical examples. The session will identify the critical questions to ask before making recommendations or decisions in this area.  What are alternatives and options to avoid too length segments, how long should each segment be? How many companies ever use the “future use” segments? How do we best organize the relationship of global reporting to local detail? What is the relationship between ERP functionality growth and the chart of account requirements?  What are the options to use the secondary ledger functionality for additional management reporting in order to keep the primary ledger chart of accounts slim?

Master Data Management From the Dark Corner into the Light
Bill Reddy, Principal Consultant, Analysis Team, Inc.

Master Data Management is no longer an obscure topic relegated to the remotest corner and last day of your business information conference of choice.  If it is, it should not be.  Tangible benefits can be gained not merely from managing but actively governing the terms, structures, and attributes that provide context and meaning to your company's data.  No matter what flavor of Business Intelligence you are deploying and on what platform there are benefits to be gained from improved consistency, clarity and common understanding.  This presentation will discuss what Master Data Management is (and is not), why it is important and how to enumerate and discuss the benefits (both intangible and tangible).  Grounded in real-world client anecdotes, we will discuss the importance of governance vs. management, common business language (CBL), requirements and barriers to program entry and acceptance, and some key strategies for success.  We will also compare and contrast various tools intended to serve this space, including a comparison of Oracle Hyperion Essbase Outline maintenance primitives (Rules files and EAS Outline Editor), Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Architect (EPMA) and Oracle Hyperion Data Relationship Management (DRM).  Each of these are powerful tools when applied in the appropriate venue, and this presentation will help you to understand where each fits in the Master Data Management realm.
